At St. Mary's we place the children at the heart of everything we do

Summer Term

As a culmination of their 'Cornwall' topic Class 4 prepared a meal of pasties and cream teas before serving it up to their families.  Ahead of the lunch, the children practised persuasive writing by sending letters to the school's food suppliers asking for donations, which provided most of the ingredients for the pasties and scones.
During our topic on Africa Class 4 were visited by a group of African musicians. We took part in a workshop involving African drumming and dancing.
Throughout the year the children have been involved in local community gardening projects. They helped to clear the flower beds at Queen Mary's Gardens and have watched the plants grow over the year. They also helped the Rotary Club plant some crocuses in aid of their 'End Polio' campaign.
