Autumn Term

In the Reception Class we are always very busy learning both in and outside of the classroom. We follow a play based curriculum with a balance of child initiated and adult led activities where children are encouraged to follow their own interests and become independent and resourceful learners.
As part of our 'Marvellous Me' focus and settling in to school, we have been encouraging relationship development through play. The children have enjoyed having 'tea parties' with their friends. They have been exploring through their senses, cutting and smelling herbs or making cups of lemon and lime 'tea', all whilst using their language to develop relationships with their new friends.
Here we are in our role play area developing our communication skills.
Who will you phone? What will you bake? How many? Who is coming to the party?
We have enjoyed celebrating World Nursery Rhyme week by learning the rhymes, building a wall for Humpty Dumpty, fishing in the tuff tray, using our fine motor skills to make Incey Wincey spiders and going on a nursery rhyme hunt.
